About GitHub Copilot pricing
As of June 1, 2026 GitHub Copilot moved all plans to usage-based billing: 'premium requests' were replaced by GitHub AI Credits (1 credit = $0.01 USD), billed by token consumption (input + output + cached) at each model's published API rate. Code completions and next edit suggestions are unlimited and NOT billed in credits on paid plans. Each plan includes a monthly AI Credit allowance; overage beyond the included pool is billed at $0.01/credit (budget-controllable; admins can block to pause until reset). A Copilot Max individual plan ($100/mo, 20,000 credits) is now live. Annual Pro/Pro+ subscribers stay on LEGACY premium-request billing until their term expires, then drop to Free — there is no new annual AI-Credits purchase option (new sign-ups are monthly). Business and Enterprise get a promotional enhanced allowance June 1 - September 1, 2026 (3,000/seat Business, 7,000/seat Enterprise), reverting to standard (1,900 / 3,900) afterward. Credits are pooled org-wide for Business/Enterprise. Sign-ups were being gradually re-enabled at time of check.
